Probably SafeDaily Chronicle, May 29, 1864. By the arrival of the Labouchere we learn that Alex. McDonald and party only left Bella Coola for the Bute Inlet road on the 17th inst., and consequently they could not have been murdered at Benshee Lake on the 30th April. It is possible that McDonald may have been met and killed by the murderers while on his way up; but as he is well known to the natives in that section we believe that he received timely intelligence of the massacre, and beat a safe retreat.
