Notes: Louie Kamookak, historian and teacher from Gjoa Haven and a member of the advisory committee re Franklin, explains that these stone tent rings, providing evidence of encampments, are common throughout Nunavut. They are a visual reminder that Inuit have lived in this area for 5,000 years. While the land may seem open and wild, many have walked here before.
