About Videos

Parks Canada has generously share videotaped footage of the modern search for the missing ships Erebus and Terror in the thenty-first century. The videotape illustrates the modern technology being employed in efforts to find the missing vessels, including include towed side-scan sonar, equipped with single-beam echo-sounder for the collection of bathymetry, an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV), equipped with high-resolution side-scan sonar and a new remotely-operated vehicle (ROV), equipped with high-definition video camera and sector-scanning sonar system. With this up-to-date technology, Parks Canada and its partners are systematically combing the ocean floor in search of evidence of the hulls or pieces of wreckage indicative of the missing ships.
