François Lepailleur dit Laferté
François Lepailleur dit Laferté was a fur trader prior to being appointed royal notary in Montréal, in 1733. He is called in as a counsellor for Judge Raimbault even though he has no knowledge of the legal system. Like Gaudron de Chèvremont, he lost much of what he owns in the fire. Lepailleur is the brother-in-law of the notary Jean-Baptiste Adhémar.
