Ancillary Analyses
A great many ancillary analyses were performed for the L’Anse aux Meadows site: faunal analyses, shell analyses, pollen analyses, seed analyses, wood identifications, phosphate analyses, other soil analyses, chemical analyses for soil disturbances, petrographic analyses, metallurgical analyses and other metallurgical studies, radiocarbon dating, air photo interpretation and air surveys. There were also environmental studies of the local geology, vegetation, mammals, birds, and fish. Here you will be introduced to a couple of samples of the analyses.
The outer rings of one of the branches were radiocarbon-dated by the Isotrace Laboratory at the University of Toronto according to the AMS-method to AD 1000 ±10. (TO-119).
