Lord Gilford

Lord Gilford was the Senior Naval Officer stationed at Esquimalt when news of the attack on the road crew reached New Westminster. When Governor Seymour received news of the attack, he asked that Lord Gilford provide a gun boat for Brew's expedition. It took a few days before the Forward was ready to go, a delay that, according to Seymour, resulted in further deaths.
