Angus M. Gidney
Cousin and neighbour to Samuel Gidney, Angus M. (Morrison) Gidney, Esquire, was a businessman living in Mink Cove. By the late 1880s, he was the owner of "Burnside Cottage", a popular resort with American tourists, providing deluxe accommodations, as well as fishing and hunting excursions. Gidney was elected to the Nova Scotia Legislature for Digby County as a Liberal in a by-election in 1895 and remained in his seat for 16 years. Later, he became proprietor of the Wohneda Lodge at Imbertville, Smith’s Cove, Nova Scotia.
He is not to be confused with another Angus Morrison Gidney (1803-1882), school teacher, journalist and poet.
