Reverend Father James Daly
A native of County Cork, Ireland, Father Daly became Meteghan’s parish priest on November 4, 1867 and worked there until his death on April 20, 1903. He was 69 years old. During his 35 years of ministry in the Meteghan parish, he had a church and a school built, and transferred the presbytery to a building closer to the church. His parishioners trusted and respected him. He is said to have controlled them with an iron hand.
