Staff — Aurore Site
This site is the result of the work put in by many people from various horizons. Peter Gossage and Carolyne Blanchard, of the Department of History and Political Sciences of the Université de Sherbrooke, have developed the site content. Research, document digitalization and proofreading was done by Carolyne Blanchard and Véronique Spreter.
The XHTML production of this site was done by Sandro Camilli and the creation of the amazing MySQL database and the script to produce the site was done by Amanuel Moges, both students at the University of Victoria. Technical advice was provided by Stuart Arneil, Martin Holmes and Scott Gerrity of the University of Victoria Humanities Computing and Media Centre.
The translation of this site from French to English was supervised by Dr. Pamela Grant, Director of the translation program at the Université de Sherbrooke. She supervised a team of students and professional translators composed of Rose-Anne Chabot, Brenda Ann Montmigny, Suzanne O'Connor and Marc Weldon. The translation of the documents from English to French was supervised by Dr. Patricia Godbout from the translation program of the University of Sherbrooke. Part of the translation was done by professional translators, Françoise McNeil and Johanne Martel, from Sherbrooke and by Sylvain Marois of Cybertexte in Québec City.
Teachers Guides were produced by Tina Davidson Heidi Bohaker, graduate students at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education, under the direction of Dr. Ruth Sandwell.
"Interpretations" were written by Marie-Aimée Cliche, Jean Labbé, Carolyne Blanchard and Peter Gossage.
About the Design
The website was designed by Don Craig of Hot House Marketing and Design, Victoria. Style sheets and xHTML coding of the design elements was by Karen Friesen of Hot House. The darker colours of the site were inspired by the abuse inflicted on Aurore and by her solitude. The photograph of Aurore lying on the floor in an attic was taken from the 1951 motion picture (Cinémathèque québécoise, France-film/Film Equinoxe). Newspaper clippings and the images of Télesphore Gagnon, Marie-Anne Houde, Marie-Jeanne Gagnon, Lauréat Couture and Judge Pelletier which are seen through the AURORE ! lettering come from the dailies Le Soleil of Québec City and La Presse of Montréal (SOCAMI).
