The 27th day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three
William Ryan by William Lorrance Hays his attorney sues John Carroll who has been summoned by virtue of a writ issued on the thirty first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty three
For that the Defendant on or about the twenty seventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty one with force and arms assaulted the Plaintiff and beat bruised and illtreated him whereby the Plaintiff was permanently injured and became and was sick sore lame and disordered and so continued for a long time To Wit thence hitherto during all which time the Plaintiff suffered great pain and was prevented from transacting his necessary affairs and [business?] and also thereby the Plaintiff was obliged to incurr and did then incurr great expenses in and about the endeavouring to be cured of the injuries so sustained by him and other wrongs to the Plaintiff then did to the damage of the Plaintiff of one thousand pounds and the Plaintiff claims one thousand pounds [...].
