My dear Sir,
re Feheley
[...] Certain statements were placed in my hands some days ago, as having been made by the Feheleys. These I intimated to Mr Crooks when here last Monday. After carefully considering their purport & consulting with Mr Magee & muself, he directed me to proceee to Michigan & to take necessary steps for arresting the Feheleys & bringing them to London. Therefore on Monday I went to E. Saginaw. I saw the young men, & endeavoured to induce them to come voluntarily to London, & I promised that if they would do so & tell the whole truth concerning the whole Donnelly murders that I would undertake they should not be prosecuted. I think they would have come but for their uncle Patk who is on the E.S. police force, & who would not let them do so. I found I could not get a warrant under the extradition treaty in E. Saginaw, so I proceeded to Detroit on Saturday & obtained a warrant under the extradition treaty. The Feheleys have since been arrested & are now in gaol at Detroit. The examn [examination] will take place there before the commnr [commissioner] on Thursday at 2 PM.
[...] I have no doubt of getting the young man extradited & have still some hope of inducing them to come over quietly & give evidence ags [against] the ringleaders of whom I have a list of more than 30. [...]
Yours truly,
Charles Hutchinson, Cty Atty
