My dear Sir,

re Feeheleys

[...] I do not of course question the propriety of the Attorney General's decision with reference to the question of bail, while regretting it exceedingly. There can be no longer any hope of the Feeheleys divulging what they know respecting the Donnelly murders, & the time & money spent in the prosecution of these men to the present point have, I regret to think, been uselessly expended. I am the more sorry, as I feel sure that James Feeheley would have eventually told all, having reliable information on this point.
