Sir,
[...]Owing to the connection of the O’Connors with said cases as witnesses for the crown, they are cut off from all or nearly all their old friends & associates, & are obliged to exile themselves from the locality in which what little property they have is situated. So strong is the prejudice, that it would not only be unpleasant but dangerous for them to return to Lucan. It will be difficult for any member of the family to find employment or decent treatment in any part of the county & it will be advisable for them to remove to a place remote from the scene of the tragedy. [...]There is much reason to believe that the family dwelling house and furniture were destroyed by an incendiary fire. [...]

I have the honor, Sir, to remain
Your obedient servant,
Charles Hutchinson, Cty Atty
