Appeared Jacques Jalleteau, eighteenth witness heard in the addition of information, who after taking the oath to Tell the truth was read His deposition at the said Information And having heard it stated it to Contain truth, and added and augmented that When the said thibault departed from the house of Sieur Moniere the day after

the fire caught to the bedding of the Negress in the Large Room, and to The one where He Was Asleep Downstairs, The Said thibault Stated, both to he and to Them who Were in the Said House, that he was to make his way down to Quebec. And that when He was Arrested, He was On the Road to New england with the said Negress, as he Was Told since by the said Negress. Who Following her Return told Him that thibault Was in Hiding Towards the Home of Sieur Dezonier on the Side of the River bank disguised with a Cloth As A Mask On his Face in order to not be Recognised, And that when, He who deposes, went Fetching Water, She was in Hiding in the door of Sieur Dezonier, for fear that he would sight her. And that, Assisted by the said thibault, She had removed her clothes from the home of the said Sieur de Moniere, feigning that she was Fetching Water for brine. That she indeed Asked Him, If at the time he went to Fetch water, He had not seen them cross On the Ice, from the city

to the inlet. And that, some time previously to The flight of the said thibault And of the said Negress, She had said to him that she Hoped to make for france And would go To franche Comté; And that the said thibault at another time told him that he Was from franche Comté. And of What Was said to the said Negress, that the said lady francheville would not permit this, She Replied “What will this Matter to Me. I am little Concerned about Her”. And has nothing to [retract?]. Reading done of the present Reexamination, to it, as to the Above Mentioned Deposition in the Information, Persisted And Declared Not to Know how to Sign, as Required by the Ordinance [...] And then having requested [salary].

seventeenth witness [...] had a Reading of the deposition done by her at the said addition of Information And having done so stated her said deposition to be Truthful, Not wishing to augment nor Diminish any of it and persists with the exception of what she Said Of the fire that was present in the bedding of the said Negress And of the One where Slept the said thibault. It was the night of Friday to Saturday preceding the Sunday, Day of the fleeing of the said Negress with the Said thibault, And that on The Saturday, eve of the said Sunday, the Said Negress having Known that Monsieur Le Commissaire had Designs to take into His Service the said thibault, And that he had Been called Into his Chamber, She who Deposes Heard that the Said Negress, said to the said thibault “Do Not think of commiting yourself do you Hear, Or beware”. Also Appeared Marie Joseph Bizet, Tenth witness [...] had a Reading of the deposition done by her at the said Information And having done so stated her said deposition to be Truthful, Not wishing to augment nor Diminish any of it and persists, that at the moment that she saw the said Negress, it was at the third hour of the afternoon. On a Reading to Her of the present Reexamination she also persisted, And Upon Her Requisition We requited Her with ten sols [...]
