Audience held on Tuesday the twenty-seventh of January 1711 by Us the lieutenant

Appeared The king’s prosecutor At our seat who told us that he had had published
the preceding Sunday Our Ordinance of the 23 of This month by Which the merchant
bourgeois & inhabitants of This city Were told to be present on This Day
before us in order to deliberate & establish a set Tax to Be remitted to
Louis Goultreau dit Langoumois & to francois hirdier dit La malin for Each
Chimney that they will sweep In This city, & As Sweepers are of importance
in this city, he requested that we please proceed with the said tax. Following
the Advice of Sieur Jean Baptiste Neveu, Sieur maurice Blondeau, merchant, Sieur
Nicolas perthuis, Baker, & Jacques faucher Laviolette & with the Consent
of the said king’s prosecutor & In the presence of the said francois herdier
La Malin on His behalf & for the Said Louis Goultreau Dit Langoumois, We
have Ordained that all
bourgeois merchants [&] inhabitants
of This city

be Held to having Their Chimneys Swept every two months Beginning on the
first of February next, in April & on the first of June & Beginning
again on the first of 8ber [October] next & Continuing to do
so every two months up [to] the first of June and from the said first of June
to the first of 8ber [October] We also Enjoin Langoumois & La
malin to do So and in the Event that some
bourgeois merchants
or inhabitants refuse to have Their Chimneys swept
in which Case
they will be Condemned to remit three Livres in fines, the sweepers are
to notify the Said king’s prosecutor of the said refusal instantly; And as for
The salaries of the said Sweepers, We ordain that They be paid ten sols per
Chimney, And When there are two Chimneys One above the Other or three or four
Pipes, The first will cost fifteen sols & the others ten sols Each, and
the Said Salary will be paid in cash to Each Sweeper by the Said bourgeois merchants
& inhabitants; Which the Said La malin has accepted for Himself & for
the Said Langoumois & has promised to satisfy the above conditions punctually.
