The year seventeen hundred thirty-four, the twelfth and thirteenth Day of April, By virtue of The ordinance of Monsieur The Lieutenant general Civil et Criminel at the seat of the Juridiction royalle of montreal on the Day of yesterday, And at the Request of Mr. the King's Prosecutor at the said seat, who has elected to be domiciled in his hotel on rue St. Paul, I the undersigned Jean-Baptiste De Coste court bailiff at the seat of the Juridiction royalle of montreal and residing on Rue nostre Dame, accompanied by Mr nicolas marchand bailiff in the said Juridiction, made my way to the house and home of Dame Portneuf, to take And apprehend the Person of The man named Tibeault, where he had been working, where we Stayed And spoke with Demoiselle Porneuf daughter, Who told us that the said Tibault had not Returned at all, and declared that he might be at the home of Sieur neveu, merchant of This city, where we made our way and Stayed and spoke with sieur neveu son, Who told us that he did not Know him; from there we again made our way to the home of sieur Mallhiot where a woman lives who served at the home of Dame widow francheville with him, Believing that we could discover from Her, the place where He might Be, but She told us that she had not Seen him at all Since he had left the Gaol, And learning from Talk Spreading through the City, that he had taken the Chemain de la Coste St. Joseph, we made our way there, and went As far as the Coste St.Paul, inquiring of those coming and going and even at houses Whether he had not been Seen, And having learned nothing new, We Withdrew. In witness whereof we have drawn up The present Report to be Used as may be Thought proper, on the above-mentioned Day and year.
