I have your letter of the 17th instant with regard to one Chouberlio trapping beaver at the Petawawa River and being in possession of a rifle. You say this man is in charge of a Government dam on the Petawawa. This Government has no dams on the Petawawa River and it may be that he is in the employ of the Dominion Government.
This however should be no bar to his being punished if he has been guilty of infringing the law. […]
