Dear Sir; –
I have received your letter of the 9th, inst, in connection with Tom Thomson. [...]
We had many discussions on the war, .As I remember it he did not think that Canada should be involved.
He was very outspoken in his opposition to Government patronage. Especially in the appointment of Commissions in the Milita. I do not think that he would offer himself for service. I know up until that time he had not tried to enlist.
