Dear Kids,

[...] Got your letters at long last, one fossil arrived a couple of months ago, in a very sad state. It had been sent when it was 40% below zero in Lethbridge, so was evidently some time on the way. I am getting along pretty well, getting drilled and will be back to the trenches quite soon enough. We are getting the best of things, but I don’t think there will be any great change in our lives this year. Wyatt my friend on the other side was in A Coy too, he was shot through the head and is going back to Canada.
