Jonathan Morley
Jonathan Morley, Justice of the Peace and Coroner for the Cowichan district in the 1860s and '70s, made his home in Maple Bay. In 1876 he married a widow, Charlotte Ford, who pre-empted land with her husband at the south end of Salt Spring Island in 1866. After her marriage to Morley, Charlotte left the island. Morley was responsible for keeping the peace on Salt Spring.
