[...]P.M. Cliff & I went to a most delightful garden party at the Dougall’s from four to seven. There were some three hundred & fifty employees of the Wilness & the linotype factory present. A large group photograph, games – “Punch & Judy” passed some time. Then we all lined up two & two & to the time of “Soldiers of the Queen” with a bag pipe leading us & the Royal Scots Band following us we marched round & round the walks at Terrace Bank. Then grouping on the back town we sang “God Save the Queen” – Mrs R very pleased – Then back to Ivy for refreshments.
