Dr Michel Delphis Brochu Born on July 15, 1853, in St. Lazare in the county of Bellechasse. A doctor in Quebec City and Superintendent of the Beauport Asylum since 1903. In 1902, he founded the AMLFAM (Association des médecins de langue française en Amérique du Nord — Association of French-speaking doctors of North America), which became the AMLFC (Association des médecins de langue française du Canada — Association of French-speaking doctors of Canada) in 1946. A plaque located at 1105 St. Jean Street in Old Quebec City (where M. D. Brochu had his offices) underlines this event. In 1902, he was awarded the title of Officier de l'Instruction publique (Officer of Public Instruction) by the French government. In 1907, he received another honour: the Ordre de l’Étoile noire de la Grande Chancellerie de la Légion d’honneur (Order of the Black Star of the Grand Chancery of the Legion of Honour). He died in 1933. |
