Honourable Sir,

I am writing to you about my mother, who has been detained in Kingston for over thirteen years. I have asked you for her freedom before but, since I had no home, I thought it was almost impossible to assume responsibility for her. But today I am settled in my home on a plot of land and am working for myself.

I ask you, please, if you would let her leave, I could take good care of her and support her suitably. Have no worries about that. Sincerely, I need my [mother]. I have been suffering for so many years from being [alone]. Have pity on me, and return her to me as [soon as] you see fit.
