CANADA THE KING To all or any of the constables or other Peace Officers in the District of Quebec, and to the keeper of the common gaol in Quebec City, in the District of Quebec. WHEREAS on the twentieth day of March, nineteen hundred and twenty, at the Court House in the City of Quebec, in the District of Quebec, I the undersigned, Judge of the Sessions of the Peace, faced with all the evidence at the preliminary investigation, declared that in my opinion the accused should stand trial on the charge of having, the said Télesphore Gagnon, in the Parish of Ste. Philomène, in the District of Quebec, during the six months preceding the twelfth day of February nineteen hundred and twenty, illegally beaten, hit, and otherwise mistreated his minor child of sixteen years, Aurore Gagnon, thereby causing her serious bodily harm, of which she died on the twelfth day of February, nineteen hundred and twenty, and of thus having committed the crime of manslaughter, and whereas the undersigned Judge of the Sessions of the Peace consequently sentenced the said Télesphore Gagnon to stand trial before the Court of King's Bench, sitting in Quebec City in criminal matters, which will be held at the Court House in the City of Quebec, in the District of Quebec, - 2 - on next April sixth, nineteen hundred and twenty, or at any other time before or after, and in any place, as governed by the law. These are therefore to command you, the said Constables and Peace Officers, and each of you, to apprehend the said Télesphore Gagnon and to convey him to the common gaol in the City of Quebec, and there to deliver him into the custody of the keeper of the said common gaol, with the present order. And I hereby order you, the said keeper, to receive the said Télesphore Gagnon in your custody in the said common gaol and to keep him there until his release following the course of the law.
