Dear Sir,

It is my duty to inform you that Marie Anne Houde, sentenced to be hanged next October 1st and presently interned in the Quebec City prison, gave birth this morning to twins, a boy and a girl. The mother and the children are very well, and we have taken all the precautions required by the condition of the said prisoner, for herself and for the newborns.

Medical care was diligently given by the prison doctor, Doctor Jos. Gosselin.

The two children were baptised this very day by the Catholic chaplain in the prison chapel, and a copy of the birth and baptismal certificate was given to the jailer.
