Miss Emma Rees, Capt. Salvation Army
Glencoe
Dear Madam,
I am sorry you had so much trouble & were so much annoyed by that unfortunate man Robert Donnelly, who is his own worst enemy. However you can not of course hope to avoid such painful occurrence as you describe, as your mission necessarily brings you in contact with bad men, in the hope of doing them good, & you must expect to arouse their hatred & opposition. It is one of the crosses you have to carry. I don’t think there will be any further attempt to disturb your religious meetings, & if you are threatened with personal violence or are assaulted, come to me & I will see that you are protected. [...]

Yours truly,
Charles Hutchinson, Co Crown Atty
