Agreement for the reconstruction of the burned house of Geneviève Letendre, widow of Étienne Volant Radisson, 8 August 1735.
Before the Undersigned royal notary of the Juridiction Royale of Montreal, therein Residing, was present Sieur toussaint Perineau dit Lamarche, master mason Entrepreneur in this city [...] who accepts to complete, Well and duly with other experts, each and all of them, the masonry work that Must be Done to Reconstruct Some houses belonging to the Succession of the said late Sieur volan Radisson and letendre His Spouse In This city on Ruë St paul, which were Consumed in the recent Fire; to This Effect, he will demolish two sections in preparation for vaults and rebuild the two old walls, the Chimney and all the damaged walls that are Ruinous; he will Erect anew the two long walls of twenty-four feet in height; to which the door Thresholds will be affixed eighteen to twenty-four inches above the level of the said street; he will Repair the north-east gables; finish The two cornices on the said gables; Restore all chimneys of the said house to their original perfection, those upstairs and downstairs as they were prior to the Fire and The ones to the north will Be mounted on a solid foundation from the cellar below; the said perineau also agrees to construct two vaults at the base of the said house that will be separated by a new wall [...]
