Monseigneur,

I have Presented to Monsieur Le Marquis de Beauharnois and to Monsieur hocquart the Plan of The City of Montreal on which is indicated in Red the Large section of completed Fortifications, the Section VX is that which we completed this year, and we also improved significantly upon

the section VZ. The two X U and U 2 Tenailles remain to be completed. The cost of the work this year amounts to 44809 # 11 sols 4 deniers. [...]

We will continue with the work Monseigneur

on the Fortifications of Montreal as per your Wishes.

This city has suffered from a Major Fire this year. There were forty-Five houses that Burned, the hotel Dieu Included; twelve of them will be restored this year; work is being done to Restore the hotel Dieu. I have Indicated on the Plan a punctuated Line 3. 4. 5. 6.

that encompasses the burned houses. I have also Forwarded the Status of Repairs to and Maintenance of the king’s Buildings and the Fortifications surrounding the Colony.
